I am mostly recovered from the Atlanta Falcons' Super Bowl LI loss.


The Doc and I have had many discussions about this epic championship. We should have seen it coming. These last few years have been all about the upsets. My beloved Tar Heels losing to Nova in the title game in 2016. The Cubbies finally winning it all. The Cavs epic come back in 2016.


The impossible is always possible, and maybe that is a big part of the reason that I love sports so much. It hurts to be on the wrong side of that winning coin, however. I guess I had it coming when I was feeling pretty smug with that 21-3 lead at half time. I danced with Gaga, then proceeded to have my heart crushed by Tom Brady et al.

The Falcons will kick off the 2017 season against the Chicago Bears. Here is hoping to a great season for all of you football lovers and foodie fans out there!

Chicago-Style Hot Dog Pizza


I used the Pillsbury brand thin crust pizza dough. We topped it with olive oil, celery salt, and poppy seeds and baked it at 400 for 8 minutes.


2-3 All-beef hot dogs, thinly sliced
1/2 cup Sport Peppers
1/2 cup chopped white onion
1/4 cup green sweet pickle relish
2-3 dill pickles, medium sliced
1 tomato, sliced
Bake for another 8-10 minutes. Drizzle with cheese sauce and yellow mustard.

I thought this sounded crazy the whole time I was cooking, but it was quite delicious. You could also cut this into small pieces and serve as an appetizer.


I absolutely love the great city of Chicago. The World's Best Mother-In-Law hails from Arlington Heights, and my youngest broseph is a big Bears fan. Family ties? Endless Restaurants? Sports of all Sorts? End to end culture? This city has it all, and these nachos were a small reflection of the city's most definitive entree, the deep dish pizza.

Chicago Bears Pizza Nachos

Pita Chips

Cut two pitas into eighths. Drizzle with olive oil. Top with cracked pepper and garlic salt. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.

Cheese Topping

Melt 2 TBSP of Butter with 2 TBSP of flour. Stir.
Whisk in 1 cup of milk.
Add 6 ounces of shredded mozzarella, continuously stirring.
Stir in one pinch of garlic salt and one pinch of oregano.
Add 1/2 cup of pizza sauce, stir.

Top with pizza sauce, black olives, pepperoni, and parmesan cheese. Or whatever your little pizza loving heart desires.
